This week just keeps getting better and better. Been a while since we heard from Chicago’s very own bird boy Willy Joy. Returning to Trouble & Bass after a smattering of releases on Diplo’s Mad Decent, Willy digs deep to deliver his biggest release yet. Exploring what it takes to produce ‘heavy’ dance music, title track ”Whispering Woods” is a face-blistering chunk of electro stabs and drum rolls that recalls your first metal show as much as a bad trip in the forest. “Superhuman” dials up the bass and jacks the groove, an unstoppable monster on a rampage directly through the middle of the dance floor. “Gimme Dat” has a swirling raved-up bounce, complete with trap’d hi hats and Willy’s near-signature sample chops. Unique, fuzzy and ferociously solid dancefloor bombs. Cousin Cole on remix action below.

Release drops today. Pick it up here. Dance around and break stuff over there.

Monday ting. Let’s get things started properly. Going in haaaaard with a tidy dub from Megalodon remixing the mergic into Spooky‘s original badness. Tough on the low end, angry in the middle and packed with enough chunk and rubbered up rumble to wake the entire neighbourhood. Standard… P Money’s on Bonus, one part of his I Beat The Tune’ Free EP. Follow this link for extra stuttaa. Do me proud. Turn it up louuuud. Respect.

AuthorThis one’s hefty. Take Jack Sparrow, add Ruskspin and throw a little Tectonic into the equation and you have Leeds based Dubstep duo Author. Having established themselves as highly talented producers, dedicated to engineering optimum quality sounds – Author, a full length self titled release follows on from their previous collaborations, ‘Dread‘ & ‘Blessings‘. Focusing on the likes of Kruder & Dorfmeister’s ‘K&D Sessions’, The Cinematic Orchestra and timeless Mowax recordings, Author explores spacious arrangements and soundscapes. Fidgeted, restless percussions, quaking basslines and earthy, low end grumble is peppered with soulful vocals, lush full bodied synths and affectionate horns.

“Their take on dubstep is comfortably conservative yet experimental, and this particular side project succeeds in its mission to bring out heretofore unseen sides of its members. When those members happen to be as talented as Jack Sparrow and Ruckspin, it’s going to be hard for the results to be anything less than satisfying anyway.” (RA)

Blergh

Dubstep’s been up in the air a lot recently… By recently I mean usually. This time around, heavyweight Figure takes Marilyn Manson for a spin, turning droans and moans into bottom ended tear out. Synth, guitar, distortion. Check. Tim Ismag gets his VIP Swagazstep on, rolling hard and squeakeh. Blergh!

AutokratzLondon based duo Autokratz “deal in peak time pop nuggets welded to terminator-style backbones, the kind that soundtrack Saturday nights the country over.” Since collaborating with Primal Scream and New order, Autokratz’s ‘schizophrenic tendancies kicked back in’, fuelling their unquenchable thirst for souped up electronics. Having spent summer immersed with the vintage vibes of CJ Bolland and artists of similarly rude, toughened up audio they now present Bad Life Vol.1. Including the likes of  Tai, Night Symmetry and Lazy Ant, Bad Life delivers spine-shattering, infectiously hard future techno . Bad Life is set to be the first in a string of formidable battle weapons for the floor. Keep it locked. Follow up Soundcloud ‘ere!
