This. Is. Mental. After locking himself away in the studio for a mere two years, Rustie’s ’Glass Swords’ is finally set to drop. Cementing his position as (yet again) one of the freshest and most exciting producers to date. Drenched in technicolour, giddy laser shots and explicit hand claps, piercing percussions and pitch bent synths inject a heart warming and overly-golden feeling to each and every track. Glasgow based Russell Whyte cut and pastes elements of Electronica, glitch hop, Dubstep, and fully fledged keyboard mastery to deliver an impeccably crafted LP of warm sweeping textures, jittery melodies and zesty, unique dance music.
Since 2007, Rustie’s ‘Jagz The Smack EP’, a healthy string of essential Resmacks (remixes) and the five part ‘Sunburst EP’ have become miniature revelations in their own right. Laser guided, and undeniably the work of a lone Scotsman hell bent on making rainbow-Tron-fed-on-a-strict-diet-of-lucky-charms-and-ecstasy type records. His love for obscure Japanese prog-rock, 16-bit video game sonics, icy grime and Detroit techno clearly characterises his fleeting vision for the future of rave music.
“Vicious, gorgeous, stunning and UNF**KINGBELIEVEABLE. As the otherworldly landscape of the album artwork suggests, ‘Glass Swords’ is epic and alien. All breakdowns and build-ups, soaring hooks and basement low-ends might very well leave permanent marks on your home stereo.”
Anyone after that christmas feeling, or lacking in happy, be sure to lock to Rusties Soundcloud, and hold tight for the release of Glass Swords, dropping October 10th. A date to get very, very wet about indeed. Pick up a cheeky pre-order here, and preview the souncloud player below to get an idea of what your in for. Heavyyyy.
