Percussions a plenty, hold tight for a hefty friday riddim. 2-Steppin’ but with a tidy garage/techno vibe underfoot. Toronto’s very own Knowing Looks (AKA Jason Hopfner) pushes an eerie, deep and funky assortment of bendy vocal hooks. Complete with cowbell (!), rimshots and layer upon layer of hubbubble fizzzz. This is 192kbs action, so DJ’s BEWARE. Show some support to help set his records loose.

Any Way
Staying true to his gritted edge basslines, sudden breaks and well spaced buildups, impeccably placed vocal hooks and ‘real’ musical influence, Fake Blood puts a little remix magic in to his very own side project The Black Ghosts. Massively dancey appeal, packed with indie dirt, vocal hooks, cowbell and laiden head to toe with golden samples & breaks. (In ways I never thought I’d hear) See how many you can spot and get a little rave on. Speakers on biiig please.
Tokyo Rising
Fresh off the Vice list comes a four part documentary following Pharrell (N.E.R.D) as he rediscovers tokyo after the disasters that struck earlier this year on 3/11. After having such an impact on his personal life, style ethnics and career Pharrell explores Tokyo’s hidden secrets. This is part two of four, i’ve upped this one because it’s got a little more whoa. Follow up the rest here.
Also, be a great sport… Spread some love and help a brother out. Spend £5 squids on an essential 34 track album entitled Hearbeats in whichever format you spin, featuring some of the most forward thinking artists to date, exclusive remixes and rare dubs. Or, pick up a copy of Skreams ‘Outside The Box – Japan Edition’. All proceeds collected go to charity. All round epic win. Hit the circles below.
Rustie
This. Is. Mental. After locking himself away in the studio for a mere two years, Rustie’s ’Glass Swords’ is finally set to drop. Cementing his position as (yet again) one of the freshest and most exciting producers to date. Drenched in technicolour, giddy laser shots and explicit hand claps, piercing percussions and pitch bent synths inject a heart warming and overly-golden feeling to each and every track. Glasgow based Russell Whyte cut and pastes elements of Electronica, glitch hop, Dubstep, and fully fledged keyboard mastery to deliver an impeccably crafted LP of warm sweeping textures, jittery melodies and zesty, unique dance music.
Since 2007, Rustie’s ‘Jagz The Smack EP’, a healthy string of essential Resmacks (remixes) and the five part ‘Sunburst EP’ have become miniature revelations in their own right. Laser guided, and undeniably the work of a lone Scotsman hell bent on making rainbow-Tron-fed-on-a-strict-diet-of-lucky-charms-and-ecstasy type records. His love for obscure Japanese prog-rock, 16-bit video game sonics, icy grime and Detroit techno clearly characterises his fleeting vision for the future of rave music.
“Vicious, gorgeous, stunning and UNF**KINGBELIEVEABLE. As the otherworldly landscape of the album artwork suggests, ‘Glass Swords’ is epic and alien. All breakdowns and build-ups, soaring hooks and basement low-ends might very well leave permanent marks on your home stereo.”
Anyone after that christmas feeling, or lacking in happy, be sure to lock to Rusties Soundcloud, and hold tight for the release of Glass Swords, dropping October 10th. A date to get very, very wet about indeed. Pick up a cheeky pre-order here, and preview the souncloud player below to get an idea of what your in for. Heavyyyy.

Green Lights – Jack Beats Remix
Always look forward to a hearty lump of Jack Beat remurx… Making full use of their habitually epic build ups, and a bassline drenched in the usual LFO wonderdust, Aloe Blacc receives the remix he’s been longing for. Perhaps not quite as outgoing as their previous works, but nonetheless, spacious, big room noise with guaranteed damage. The Below is 196kbs so DJ’s BEWARE. Be sure to check the original to get an idea of how far-fetched the remix is..How about that then..! Eh?!… Like Woah! Show some love on Soundcloud.
Selecta
Had this one on lock recently. Dancefloor artillery at it’s finest. 2 Bit Thugs put an absolute bastard thug-vibe on Mz. Bratts ‘Selecta’. Ringing from the rooftops or straight up from the dank, it’s a rare cocktail of sing along fun, with massive subwoofer attack and rougher than tough attitude. Rude gal clickety clack, rave steady riddim, old skool pianos, biscuit crispy percussions, 2 step, air horns and the ever infectious lick… Nasteh. Save this one for peak times, and tear the place apaaaaaaaart.
Be sure to show 2 Bit Thugs plenty of love.
Super Chill Sunday |36|
This week couldn’t be easier. Deebs tears a hole the size of an iceberg into Lauryn Hill’s Doo Wop, (- Haha…!?) Widdler finds the time to chill Sia down, taking her already stunning track ‘Breathe me‘ to new altitudes – plenty of heartwarming dub based air… And Skanky makes a stir with gorgeously mellow, vocal ridden vibes for absolutey any occassion. Brucey drops a little indie bonus from Perseus also. Week starts here people. Get your chill on… Easy.
